This pair of virtuoso musicians, the New York pianist, Annlynn Miller, and the Swiss cellist, Ulrich Schmid, joined together in 1995 to form a permanent duo dedicated to performing the major works for piano and cello. They have received lavish praise for their performances in the United States (Carnegie Hall, NYC; the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., etc.), and throughout Europe. In addition to the complete works for piano and cello of Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms, the duo is renowned for its interpretation of the sonatas of Alfred Schnittke and of his still unpublished “Epilogue” for the ballet “Peer Gynt” for Cello, Piano, and Tape. Miller and Schmid’s artistic collaboration began when they taught at the same educational institution. They subsequently initiated and organized complete cycles of Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms for larger chamber music formations, in which they took over the part of the piano and cello. After the initial recitals took place, the Duo quickly gained an outstanding reputation on both sides of the Atlantic due to the intense and unrelenting excellence–and uncompromising quality–of its performances. Audiences are continuously fascinated by the total symbiosis heard in the concerts by this permanent duo–a rarity in itself!<\/p>\n
